What is the Swarna Pusthaka Award?

Swarna Pusthaka Award (ස්වර්ණ පුස්තක සම්මානය) is one of the most prestigious awards given to Sinhalese novels. The winner is announced usually before the literature month of September and the winning novel is guaranteed to be a bestseller during the book exhibition organized by the book publishers of Sri Lanka. So, naturally there is a huge competition for this award.
